Hochschule Geisenheim University is known for its application-oriented and theory-based  research in the field of specialty crops and their products along the whole value chain. Research includes current questions regarding viticulture, oenology, horticulture, beverage technology, food safety and logistics as well as economics and marketing. In addition, the university is committed to the sustainable development of cultural landscapes and urban open spaces.

Together with our partners from Rioja, Eszterházy and Cluj-Napoca, we are organizing a joint summer school in Geisenheim in September 2024. With a focus on food with a geographical indication, the event will offer participants a variety of practical projects. The products are assessed along their entire value chain in terms of food safety and sustainability. Participating students will apply a wide range of theoretical principles to produce non-alcoholic beer and assess its quality. The students also gain laboratory experience in the field of vegetable oils and have the opportunity to visit key players in the food logistics industry of the Rhine-Main region.

The program consists of both a virtual component with a preparation task for the students and a one-week attendance phase in Geisenheim.
