The US Wine Market
This English language seminar offers in-depth insights into the US Wine Market (production & consumption) by leading industry experts.

Thursday, December 11:
After a brief welcome by the Chair of International Marketing Management, Steve Melchiskey will give an introduction to the US wine distribution system on the first morning. With his many years of experience as a lawyer, wine importer, federal wholesaler, and strategy consultant, Steve will highlight the legal, logistical, and practical considerations associated with the so-called 3-tier system.

The afternoon begins with a workshop on the wine-producing states of Oregon and Washington State. This will be led by Sander Vriend, who, as Managing Director International, represents one of the leading producers, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates.
Bennett Caplan and Tim Ryan will then join the lecture hall via an online conference. Bennett, the president of Abridge, will talk with Tim (senior director, regulatory affairs and compliance, E. & J. Gallo Winery) about a hot and controversial topic: international regulations and their relevance to the wine trade.
A discussion round with an opportunity for reflective exchange will conclude the program on the first day.

Friday, December 12:
One state dominates wine production, consumption, and exports in the US: California.
Konstantin Baum MW will lead the California Wines masterclass on Friday morning.

The last part of the seminar on Friday afternoon will be practice-oriented and particularly exciting for those who are wondering how they can promote the sales of their already listed wines in the US market as effectively and efficiently as possible. Steve Melchiskey and Anna Nardi, responsible for exports at the Italian family winery Perlage Winery, will speak candidly and look forward to exchanging ideas with you.
