We are excited to announce the 08th International Phylloxera Symposium, which will take place from July 26th to 27th 2025, directly ahead of the GiESCO conference at Geisenheim University. This year's symposium will focus on the scientific perspectives regarding the impact of recent developments in climate change and viticulture on the biological behavior of phylloxera.

Key topics to be discussed include:
• Climate change and vineyard management effects on phylloxera
o Current situation in viticultural regions worldwide
o New strategies for controlling phylloxera infestation
o Current state of research on behavioral patterns of phylloxera
o Leaf gall formation on Vitis vinifera a phenomenon related to climate change?
• Emerging soil-borne threats
o Rootstock breeding activities related to soilborne pest and disease resistance
o Grafting techniques and vineyard sanitation
• Breeders’ perspectives on sustainable solutions
o Breeding for the development of phylloxera resistant varieties and rootstocks
o Genetic resources for future rootstock varieties
o Genetic differentiation of phylloxera biotypes
o Advances in molecular biology and resistance markers

The symposium will also provide ample opportunities for social activities and personal exchanges, fostering collaboration and networking among participants.
